The Dilemma a Filipino face is how to cope with the increasing price of basic commodities. How to feed the whole family three times a day, how to send children to school. This predicament always haunts ordinary Juan dela cruz, he who earns a meager salary wage who has a wife and a child to support. No matter how smart and educated he is, he still experience those same problems. That is the reality. Probably some who were born with silver spoon on their mouth haven’t experienced those problems, but they are just a few, probably 2% of Philippines’ population.

GMA’s 8th State of the Nation is all about success, she fearlessly talks about the accomplishments her administration had so-called achieved since 2001. She talks about VAT without batting an eyelash, She explained it as though truly depressed or should I say oppressed poor Filipinos are not affected by it. How could an economist like her conclude such a thing? I am just an ordinary citizen with just little background of economics, but I know that VAT affects everybody, it affects even the poorest of the poor. They who instead of riding a public utility vehicle would just patiently walk so to save money for food, they who would just do all sorts of job just to make ends meet. They feel the impact of Value Added Tax the most. They are the ones who suffer much, being trapped in a situation where no one could be of help. As the supposedly hero of the poor is busy in her office planning another game to make the whole nation spin around her fingers.
Being optimistic is good, but living in fantasy world is dangerous. She keeps on reiterating the accomplishments she claimed to achieve but she completely forgot to mention the problems, the issues her administration had faced and is facing. What happened to Garci tape? ZTE deal? All has been buried deep together with the fatalities of Super Ferry.
